February 15th
The Mayoral Candidates Forum – Philadelphia: The Next Great CityIn February the mayor's race will start heating up. The main issues of the campaign are already bubbling to the surface: the crime wave, education, taxes. Issues that matter to all of us. However by focusing on just the immediate issues the media and the candidates might end up forgetting about the long-term vision for the city's future.
Join us on the 15th to hear from Michael Nutter, Chaka Fattah, Tom Knox, Dwight Evans (and any other candidates that might declare their run between now and then) what their long term vision is and what they are going to do to make Philadelphia the "Next Great City" and the greenest, most sustainable city in America.
Moderator Flavia Colgan will start the Mayoral Forum with questions from the "Next Great City" report – which comes out in January, itemizing 10 things that should be done immediately by the new mayor to improve our quality of life. These proposed improvements are all budget-neutral, and are a way to get us all thinking about the solutions that will bring us together instead of only about the problems that draw us apart.
The event will be held February 15th at the Academy of Natural Sciences, 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia PA 19103. Doors open at 5:30 PM, program begins at 6:30 PM. RSVPs ARE MANDATORY to Roland Wall at the Academy
The event will also be webcast LIVE to over 10 locations all over the city – if you would like to participate at a webcast in your neighborhood, please contact Spencer Finch.
