Professor Vuchic is the UPS Foundation Professor of Transportation Engineering and a Professor of City and Regional Planning at the The focus of his research is the study of intermodal transportation systems and their impacts on the urban environment, economy, and social conditions. A preliminary evaluation was first published in the Urban Transportation Monitor which led to a debate on the topic. More recently, he published an article in Transportation Quarterly entitled An Evaluation of Maglev Technology and Its Comparison with High Speed Rail. In the subsequent TQ, an article was published questioning Dr. Vuchic's findings. Dr. Vuchic has prepared a rebuttal which has been submitted for publication.
